Coating at the heart of our twist packaging!

At BBC CELLPACK Packaging, packaging manufacturing is much more than just know-how: it is true expertise that combines technical skill, product protection and respect for environmental issues.

We want to convey the idea of having a product that is eye-catching but also ensures quality. Our goal is to protect, enhance and differentiate your products with our sustainable packaging solutions. Because yes, we invest in innovative and eco-responsible technologies. Among these, coating plays an essential role, particularly for twist packaging. This expertise allows us to meet our customers' expectations while respecting environmental issues.

Focus on confectionery: a market facing several challenges:

·         Product fragility: sweets require packaging that protects their texture, flavour and taste.

·         Differentiation on the shelf: packaging is the first thing consumers see, so it must be attractive while ensuring optimal quality and ease of handling.

·         Sustainability requirements: industries must innovate in eco-friendly and recyclable solutions in line with new regulations.

Coating is the answer to these challenges! Do you know what coating actually is?

Coating involves applying a very thin layer of a specific material, in this case wax, to the surface of paper. This technology gives the paper new mechanical and/or aesthetic properties, while ensuring that the solution remains recyclable. What are the benefits of coating? Improved malleability of the paper in general and during machine processing, particularly at high speeds; moisture barrier properties that prevent sweets from sticking to the packaging; and a silky, soft feel for a guaranteed consumer experience.

At BBC CELLPACK Packaging, we have been mastering coating for over 80 years. We have recognised expertise in this technique, with a range of vegetable and mineral waxes. Each packaging solution is conceived, designed and developed according to our customers' specifications. Find out more about our expertise!

Mineral wax, vegetable wax, what's the difference?

Mineral wax is derived from petrochemicals, often based on paraffin. It provides an excellent barrier against moisture and good torsion behaviour. It is stable, well known in European confectionery production lines and suitable for high production speeds.

Vegetable wax comes from renewable natural sources such as rapeseed, sunflower, and soybeans. This alternative is more environmentally friendly because it meets growing expectations for environmental responsibility. Its technical properties are similar to those of mineral wax (better paper malleability, barriers, productivity, etc.) with the added bonus of being eco-friendly.

Choosing between these two types of waxes requires real expertise. The decision is made based on customer expectations, the type of confectionery and the brand's CSR commitments.

Why is coating essential for twist-wrap confectionery packaging?

Thanks to the coating, the twist paper packaging will have an effective twist closure with optimal protection of the candy's characteristics. With the coating on your twist paper packaging, there is less risk of tearing during machine processing and products sticking to the packaging, resulting in improved productivity and a maximised consumer experience.

At BBC CELLPACK Packaging, we support our customers by promoting coating, both for its technical performance and its sustainability. Packaging thus becomes an element of quality and responsibility. We believe that every package has the power to make a difference, whether for the product, the brand, the consumer or the environment.
